• Design and final height of floor pavement internal and external (balcony)to be agreed.

• Type of internal and external wall finish, e. g. face brick, tiles, plaster etc.?

• If dark colours, the site limitations and the design of elements are most important.

• Design of expansion gap window – wall to be agreed.

• Opening type and left hand / right hand?

• During the survey the following points need attention:

• Survey should always start in the basement or ground floor and go ahead with the next higher floor.

• Survey should start at the entrance and go ahead clockwise from aperture to aperture.

• Number of windows, opening types etc. to be compared with former information (drawings, order).

• If a window list exists:

• Are elements shown internally or externally?

• Important for left hand / right hand.

• Are the apertures square (spirit level)?

• Is aperture complete finished?

• Sometimes balustrades still need to be bricked up

• At large openings the tolerances of the dimension have to be checked in order to find the right window size.

• Which method of fixing: Dowels or brackets?

• Position of the window within the width of the wall to be agreed.

• Especially for the survey of doors and of windows, connected into tapes of windows, the one-metre-level has to be fixed with the person in charge  eg. site manager.

• For electrical drilling machines etc.:

• Position of the power supply?

• At apertures more than 2.5 m over ground:

• Height of balustrades, transoms etc. sufficient for safety?

• In case of differences between order and situation on site (quantity, dimensions …) the person in charge must be informed.
